The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
