The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
