The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
