The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
