The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
