The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
