A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
