A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
