Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
