Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and had not known my account. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
