Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
