Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a high garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
