The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
