Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a high Garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and neither known this my account! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
