Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
