Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. 19
