Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
