The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us if thou art of the truthtellers! 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 We sent messengers before you to the previous peoples, 10 And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
