Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
