Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
