Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
