The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
