The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 and purify your robes, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still desires more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
