The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
