The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
