The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 Pollution shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
