The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
