Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
