▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
True are the words of God the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
