I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
