Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
