Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
