Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
