Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
