[Useless, though, will be his repentance: for [as long as he was alive] he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray [for enlightenment,] 31 He rejects the faith, turns away 32 then he went back to his kinsfolk, elated with pride. 33 Woe to you, and woe! 34 and ever nearer unto thee, and nearer! 35 Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? 36 Was he not a sperm-drop spilled? 37 Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. 38 and then He made of him a pair, male and female? 39 So will He, Who has done all this, not be able to revive the dead? 40
