The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
