By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 excusing or warning, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are made to lose their light, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 On that Day (of Judgment) woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
