The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
