The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
