And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
