The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
