The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
