The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
