The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
