The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
