The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
