The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
