The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
