The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
