The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
